"A Day in the Bay"
with the
Phang-nga Bay Conservancy
On 15 October 2011 EAST Furniture & Interiors were proud to sponsor and join more than 100 community volunteers from various local companies and schools, on board 3 donated boats in an IBAP initiative, pilot project to clean about 18 beaches around Phang-nga Bay by collecting plastic, foam, glass and rubbish washed on shore.
On a gloriously sunny day, a total of 152 bags were collected from predetermined spots along the East coast of Phuket, the southern tip of Koh Yao Yai and further North into the bay near Koh Panak, with the staggering final weight of the rubbish totaling over 943 kg.
EASTwill be endeavouring to support this continued effort at cleaning our back yard here in Phuket by sponsoring further events as they are organized by the PBC. We all have a responsibility, wherever we are, to educate the younger members of our community to act in an environmentally responsible manner.
